Psalm 5:3
In the morning, O Lord, You hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before You and wait in expectation.

Aren't you glad when you read verses that are do-able? Now, I know what you're thinking. You're saying to yourself that you may have time to speak to God in the morning between breakfast, coffee, getting ready for the day and running out the door, but there's no way that waiting for an answer is do-able. And I agree with you. But this verse isn't about calling in sick so you can spend the entire day waiting for an answer from God. It's about letting God show up in your day.

So many times we think of distractions in a bad way (and there's a reason for that!) - a phone call when we're in the middle of something or car trouble during a vacation - but this verse encourages us to let God be a good distraction to us during our days. Here's a quick analogy to help us understand: let's say that I have gone to see Wendy in the morning and I knelt before her, showed her a ring and asked her to marry me. Instead of saying yes, she says that she'll let me know later that day (I know, that would be cruel, but stick with me here...). What would my day be like? Every phone call, every knock on the door, every email would send my heart racing as I looked for her answer. Her response would be the interruption in my routine that could alter my life forever. And more than likely, I would make myself as accessible as possible to her so that I could get the answer ASAP.

That's what God is looking for in us. A people who are willing to live each day watching for His divine interruption. A church which has made her requests known to Him and now is watching and waiting for Him to come through like the faithful God we all know he is.

Have you spent time this morning with God? Did He hear your voice? Great. Now, wait in expectation for Him to answer.

He will.
