Corinthians 5:16
So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view.
Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.
How well do you see? More to the point, how well
do you see Jesus? Do you see Him as just another thing to be done
as you work your way through your "to-do" list? Maybe
you see Him as someone important, someone
who can get the job done for you. Hopefully, you see Him as your
Savior, the only one who can rescue you from the sin that fights
against you.
Why so deep so soon, you wonder? Because how we
see see Jesus will determine how we see others. If I regard Jesus
from a worldly point of view, then I'll regard others that way,
too. The woman who asks me to pray for her husband will just be
another item on a crowded list of things to be done. The man driving
slowly in front of me will just be a nuisance in my way. The family
that is hurting will be an uncomfortable detour from my plans.
BUT (and it's a pretty big one)...
If I see Jesus with spiritual eyes, I will understand
that He has rescued me so that He can use me to help Him reach
others. The people that I meet in the daily grind will be "eternal
appointments" instead of "daily interruptions."
My worldview will change, just like Paul's did when he wrote this
week's passage. He saw himself as a man who stood between God
and the world in hopes of bringing the two together. And it dramatically
altered how he saw people.
So, let me ask you again. How do you see Jesus?
I pray you see Him clearly.
