Psalm
119:133
Direct my footsteps according to Your word.
There are a thousand ways that I could start this
evotion (fill in all your men don't ask for directions jokes),
but I'll simply say that it's
easy to get confused. There are a lot of Christians out there
who are struggling to know exactly where God wants them to be
going and that's why books about Dreams and Dreamgivers are best-sellers.
We don't necessarily buy them because they're great books (although
most of them are). We buy them because we're desperate for someone-
anyone- to tell us where to go next.
The amazing thing about this problem is how casually
we ask God for direction. Wait, let's rephrase that. We do a lot
of asking. But we don't do a lot of listening. Can you imagine
driving a car with someone next to you with a shrill, high-pitched
voice whining at the tops of thier lungs about where you're headed?
AUUGGHHHH! But that's not even the complete picture of how so
many Christians ask God for direction. For that picture you have
to imagine that same person doing the exact same thing while the
MAP WAS IN THEIR LAP!!! That's how we appear to God when we beg
Him for direction in our lives but never really read the Bible
to find out where He's pointing.
Want to know where you're headed? Stop the car and
read the map. You may be surprised at where God wants you to go.
Boy, I hope it's Hawaii.
